Privacy Policy
Last updated: 5 October 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Vyaparhood collects, why, and the choices you have. Vyaparhood is operated by [Legal name of owner / business], [Building, street, area, city, state – PIN code], which is the Data Fiduciary for your data under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
1. What we collect
- Account details: your email address, and your phone number if you choose to add one.
- Profile: name, date of birth (to confirm you’re 18+, never shown to others), business details, category, bio, social handle and profile photo.
- Location: your device location while you use the app, or an address you type in. It is used to calculate distances to other members.
- Activity: connection requests, messages, ratings, reports, blocks and saved profiles.
- Payments: plan, amount, date and payment status. Card, UPI and bank details are handled by our payment partner; we never see or store them.
- Technical data: app version, device type and crash reports, used to fix problems.
2. What other members can see
Your name, photo, business details, category, bio, area, city and a distance from them — rounded to the nearest 0.5 km unless you choose to show it more precisely. Members never see your exact location, email, phone number or date of birth. Profile photos are visible only to signed-in members.
3. Why we use your data
- To create your account and sign you in.
- To show you members nearby and in your city, and show you to them.
- To deliver requests, messages and notifications.
- To review reports and keep the community safe.
- To process payments and send receipts.
- To fix errors and improve the app.
- To meet legal obligations.
We process your data on the basis of the consent you give when you sign up, and for legitimate uses permitted by law. We do not sell your data and do not show third-party ads.
4. Who we share it with
Only service providers who help us run Vyaparhood, under contracts that require them to protect it:
- cloud hosting and database (data stored in India),
- our payment gateway partner, and Apple or Google if you pay through their stores,
- our email provider, for sign-in codes and receipts,
- a crash-reporting service, which receives an anonymous account ID but not your email or phone.
We may disclose data if required by law or to protect someone’s safety.
5. How long we keep it
- Your account, profile, messages and location: until you delete your account.
- Payment records: as long as tax and accounting laws require (usually 8 years).
6. Your rights
You can access and correct your data in the app, withdraw consent, and delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account, which permanently removes your profile, photos and messages. You can also ask us for a summary of your data, raise a grievance, or nominate someone to act for you, by writing to the Grievance Officer below. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
7. Security
Data is encrypted in transit, photos are stored privately, and access is restricted so each member can reach only their own data. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
8. Children
Vyaparhood is only for people aged 18 and over. We delete accounts we find belong to anyone younger.
9. Changes
We’ll post updates here and notify you in the app or by email about significant changes.
